ICC World Cup 2023: Pakistan team reaches Ahmadabad ahead of India clash

The arch-rivals will take on one another on October 14

The Pakistan cricket team reached Ahmadabad on Wednesday ahead of their clash with India at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday (October 14).

The Green Shirts reached Ahmadabad from Hyderabad via a chartered flight.

After playing a nail-biter against Sri Lanka at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Tuesday, the Men in Green will rest for the entire day today and will train on Thursday and Friday.

Pakistan will face India at the biggest stadium in the world that can gather as many as 132,000 spectators and since the Pakistani journalists and fans have not been granted Indian visas yet, the Men in Green may be facing the home side with little to no support.

It must be noted that the arch-rivals have crossed paths seven times in the ICC World Cup and the Green Shirts' record isn't something they would like to talk about as they have lost seven out of seven matches against the Blues.

However, after recording wins against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka in the ongoing World Cup, Babar Azam and his men will be doing everything to end their losing streak against the arch-rivals in the mega event.

On the other hand, India beat Australia after an early scare as their top-order was dismantled by the Aussie pace attack and they are currently playing Afghanistan on the batting friendly pitch of Delhi.

By the time this story was filed, Afghanistan were batting at 225-5 in 43 overs.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Men in Green pipped Ireland to claim the record of the highest-ever run chase in the history of ODI World Cups.

Chasing the target of 345 runs, the Men in Green met with early blows as they had lost their top-order batters, Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam, in just 7.1 overs and were 37-2 but the match-winning partnership between Mohammad Rizwan and the World Cup debutant, Abdullah Shafique, changed the fortunes of the struggling Pakistani side.

The 176-run stand between the two batters provided their side the much-needed break and got them in a dominating position once again.
